Naked Bins and Garden Waste Dumping

Sharon removed the water-damaged contact-applied pictures at the weekend. We are hoping the bins don’t get tagged before we paint them (hopefully this week).

Naked bin showing masking tape to indicate compost is not ready (the hatch kept being removed)

The garden waste dumping continues to be an issue. I need to put up a big sign to say that the brown bin is for people to take from only (only key composters to keep it stocked with paper and card), though I’m not sure that will stop people.

The plastic bag is shredded paper. Beside it, the brown bin had been filled with unwanted clippings and a whole plant with roots.

I remove the clippings (which take too long to break down and clog the bins) and put behind the bins for council to pick up when they mow.

About communitycompost

We are a Melbourne-based group, keen to divert organic waste from landfill by facilitating local compost stations that can be used and managed by the community.
